The Georgia Club Foundation’s Christmas Tour of Homes will be held on December 11th, 2022. Planning is underway!
The funds raised by the tour will stay within the local community, which is one of the main objectives of the Georgia Club Foundation.

The Sparrow’s Nest
The Sparrow’s Nest is a non-profit,” Christ-centered ministry that seeks to change lives through the power of God and nurturing relationships. By creatively meeting the needs of a population at risk, we build trust, which is the doorway to hope and transformation.
The two areas of focus for this year – The Clean and Safe Athens Program and Breaking the Cycle Classes.
The Clean and Safe Athens Program creates opportunities for those who are displaced, on the streets, in shelters, or who may also struggle under the federal poverty line. The Sparrow’s Nest partners with ACC Solid Waste Department to clean the city streets once a week in order to reduce waste, litter, and keep the community beautiful. This is beneficial not only to the clients of The Sparrow’s Nest, but also to the surrounding Clarke-County community.
Breaking the Cycle Classes provides the sponsored clients a 14-week curriculum, transportation, breakfast, lunch, clothing, work attire, showers, laundry, GA birth certificates, Georgia ID, and a stipend throughout the course. The program is designed to address participants’ thinking, behavior, and substance use disorders. Goals are to develop employment skills, financial planning and provide job opportunities in culinary arts, landscaping, car dealership/automotive field. This class creates a therapeutic cognitive skill development program and necessary life skills to strive.
Oconee Area Resource Council
The Oconee Area Resource Council (OARC) is a local 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation that serves as the local decision-making body for the Georgia Family Connection. OARC identifies the needs of the community and works to fill those needs by combining resources and services. OARC’s goal is to ensure that all residents of Oconee County will live in a healthy, safe and stable environment.
The two areas of focus for this year – The Food for Kids Program and the Summer Food for Kids Program.
The Food for Kids program was created to help bridge and even close the hunger gap for student in Oconee County Schools by providing a bag of nutritious kid-friendly food to children who might not otherwise have enough to eat over the weekend. The FFF program continues to operate with no waiting list and has expanded to lottery funded Pre-K children with help of TGC Foundation 2022 Tour of Homes sponsorship for this program.
The Summer Food for Kids program is a 10-week program designed to assist families during the summer by supplementing their food with a box of nutritious food, including fruits and vegetables from local farmers, each week. Children who are registered in the Oconee Food for Kids program usually receive free and reduced lunch during the school year and a bag of kid friendly food for the weekend. Summer Food for Kids was created to fill the food gap for these children during the summer months. The Summer Food for Kids program is designed to assist families by providing a box of food during the 10 weeks of summer.
