This is an exciting time for your Georgia Club Foundation!
2018 has gotten off to a great start. We have made several donations to worthy area charities including contributions to Sparrow’s Nest, Statham Library, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the NEGA Food Bank and Camp Twin Lakes. These donations were all earmarked for specific needs by these agencies.
In May, we will be announcing our scholarship winners from the Barrow and Oconee County schools. In addition to the H.S. Students awarded scholarships this year, we will also be awarding collegiate scholarships to three deserving employees of The Georgia Club. These are the people who make our Club the place we enjoy. These deserving students and their families will be recognized at a celebratory dinner in their honor on June 3. The Foundation has partnered with the Chu Family Foundation to increase the number of scholarships awarded and also recognize sponsors and scholars with this dinner. We are grateful for the generous support from the Chu Family Foundation and hope to make this an annual event.
Our Casino Night in late March raised over $9,000 for the Foundation and provided a fun night out for over 130 guests. Many thanks to the hard work of the Casino Night Committee and to our sponsors for providing a fun night at the club that helps support the good work of the Foundation. Casino Night has been a great addition to Foundation events. If you were not able to attend we hope you will be able to participate next year.
The Foundation will also be hosting our annual Golf Tournament on October 1. Plans are currently coming together and registration information will be released in June.
One of our more popular activities each year is the Christmas Adopt-a-Family program. Last year, we were able to make Christmas a little brighter for many wonderful families. Many thanks to all Foundation supporters who supported this in 2017 and all who have contributed to this worthy cause over the years. For 2018, we our goal is to increase the number of families we serve and build upon the strong foundation this program enjoys.
Plans are well underway for our semi-annual Christmas Tour of Homes that will be held on December 9, 2018. Denise Rampey and Diane Hall have taken on the leadership responsibilities for this popular event and have selected St. Mary’s Hospice and Tree House in Winder to be the beneficiaries. More details about the generous homeowners who will be on tour will be forthcoming. In the meantime, please mark your calendars for this event and plan to volunteer or attend and invite your friends!
